AWA Welcomes 18 New Members
This fall, 18 young ladies successfully completed the steps to becoming active members of the Association of Women in Agriculture.
As potential members, the girls worked hard throughout the semester learning the history of AWA and participating in many different activities and events, including formal interviews, the Saddle and Sirloin Haunted House, and Homecoming Week.
The joining class of Fall 2009 was initiated on Monday, November 23rd. The night was kicked-off with dinner at the Nitty Gritty Restaurant, and was followed by the ceremony and celebrations at the AWA House.
Members of the AWA Fall 2009 joining class include: Devan Brugger, Mara Budde, Paula Courtney, Elizabeth Folgert, Sonia Gelsinger, Hillary Hartley, Mary Heller, Lauren Holterman, Carrie Jo Leum, Caitlyn Lynch, Christine McFarland, Kelsey Olson, Julie Orth, Kelli Retallick, Shannon Sattler, Abby Sielaff, Ashley Wagner, and Abbey Wethal.
Awards were given to two outstanding potential members. Carrie Jo Leum received the Sunshine Award for her positive attitude, outgoing personality, and ability to always make others smile. Julie Orth received the Git R’ Done Award for her determination to succeed, strong leadership skills, and willingness to always help others.
